Total Woman Business Conference

Yesterday, I attended the Total Woman Business Conference in downtown Brooklyn and it was awesome.  I left feeling inspired and ready to conquer the world.  The theme of the conference was Money Power and the speakers gave very useful information on how to manage our finances, tips on setting financial goals, how to obtain capital for your small business, how to improve  your credit score, how to apply for a business loan, training resources, and more.

The speakers were strong, intelligent women from various backgrounds that motivated us to create goals and work on making our dreams a reality with sensible financial advice.  From the Executive Director of Asian American/Asian Research Institute at CUNY who told us that is not just about paying the bills but building wealth one cent/nickel at a time, emphasizing the importance of having a budget, spending and savings plans to a Personal Finance Expert at CNBC who told us to always negotiate like men do, instead of just accepting the first offer.  Representatives from the Small Business Administration (“SBA”) gave us information on the programs available to women entrepeneurs and a Financial Counselor who spoke about how we sabotage ourselves by not having a healthy relationship with money.  There was so much strength and girl power in this lineup of speakers that you could not help but be inspired by their words.

The audience was also a source of inspiration.  Women (and a few men) from all walks of life who had started (or are planning to start) their own businesses and showed a collective strength that motivated me to work hard at reaching my own dreams.  The room was full of positive energy that was so contagious, it made you want to reach for the stars.

I am happy that I got to spend the day in the company of so many strong, intelligent women and learned about Money Power while been motivated and inspired.
